Lydia's Practice of Counseling
Lydia completed her undergraduate studies at the University of North Texas in Fashion Design. She lived in India and provided vocational training to women who experienced abuse while being sex trafficked. She completed her graduate Masters of Art in Professional Counseling at Amberton University and is now licensed to practice in Texas. While working with complex trauma patients at the Ross Institute of Psychological Trauma Lydia became certified in Trauma Model Therapy. Lydia has experience working in the residential, hospital, and private practice setting. Lydia's specialties include; complex trauma, disassociation, SRA abuse, bipolar symptoms, depression, and addiction.
Lydia's practice is focused on the trauma model which assumes that mental health and/or substance use problems are survival strategies to try and cope with trauma. Things like addiction, anger outbursts, intense sadness, and dissociation are learned ways to cope with tragic situations. Lydia uses the light and color experiential methods of Emotional Transformation Therapy ETT and accomplishes therapy goals by integrating Adlerian, Narrative, and Somatic Therapies.
