Eating Recovery Center: Specialized Eating Disorder Treatment Across Texas

At a recent Neighbors Network event, attendees had the opportunity to learn more about Eating Recovery Center (ERC), a treatment provider specializing in the assessment and treatment of eating disorders across the lifespan.

Eating disorders are complex mental health conditions that can affect individuals of all ages, genders, and backgrounds. ERC provides evidence-based treatment for a wide range of eating disorders, including:

  • Anorexia Nervosa

  • Atypical Anorexia

  • Binge Eating Disorder

  • Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)

  • Orthorexia

  • Compulsive Overeating

  • Diabulimia

  • Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorders (OSFED)

Levels of Care

ERC offers a continuum of care designed to address varying levels of medical and psychological need. Services include:

Inpatient (IP) TreatmentProvides 24-hour medical and psychiatric monitoring for individuals requiring stabilization and intensive support.

Residential Treatment (RES)Offers a structured therapeutic environment where individuals reside on-site while participating in treatment.

Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)A higher level of outpatient care that provides comprehensive daytime treatment while allowing individuals to return home in the evenings.

Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP)Provides structured treatment several days per week while allowing participants to maintain work, school, or family responsibilities.

Virtual Intensive Outpatient Program (VIOP)Delivers evidence-based treatment through a virtual format for individuals who may benefit from increased flexibility or who do not have access to local services.

Services for Children and Adolescents

ERC offers specialized programming for children and adolescents ages 8–17. Treatment plans are individualized and may include medical monitoring, individual therapy, family involvement, nutritional counseling, and support for co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and trauma.

Recognizing the impact eating disorders can have on the entire family system, treatment often incorporates family education and support resources. Programs are designed to help caregivers better understand eating disorders and learn strategies for supporting recovery at home.

Academic Support During Treatment

For school-aged children and adolescents, ERC integrates educational support into treatment. Education specialists collaborate with families, schools, and treatment teams to help students maintain academic progress while receiving care.

Support services may include:

  • Individualized educational planning

  • Coordination with schools and teachers

  • Assistance with online, home-based, or hospital-based instruction

  • Support for neurodiverse learners

  • Transition planning for returning to school following treatment
