Meridell Achievement Center

Children and adolescents experiencing significant behavioral, emotional, or psychiatric concerns may benefit from a higher level of care than traditional outpatient services can provide. Meridell Achievement Center is a residential treatment facility in Liberty Hill, Texas, that provides behavioral health services for youth ages 10–17. The center offers individualized treatment programs designed to address a variety of psychiatric, behavioral, and neurobehavioral needs.

Trauma-Informed Treatment

Meridell Achievement Center utilizes a trauma-informed approach to care, recognizing the impact that traumatic experiences may have on a young person's emotional, behavioral, and cognitive development. Treatment is provided in a structured environment intended to promote safety, consistency, and skill development.

Upon admission, each patient completes a comprehensive assessment to help determine the most appropriate treatment program and individualized plan of care.

Residential Treatment Programs

Meridell offers two primary residential treatment tracks based on each patient's clinical presentation and treatment needs.

Behavioral Program

The Behavioral Program is designed for adolescents experiencing behavioral and emotional concerns that may include difficulty with decision-making, peer relationships, emotional regulation, or repeated psychiatric hospitalizations.

Treatment emphasizes understanding behavioral patterns while promoting healthy coping skills, problem-solving, personal responsibility, and positive social interactions.

Neurobehavioral Program

The Neurobehavioral Program serves youth with neurological, developmental, cognitive, and behavioral challenges that may affect daily functioning.

The program incorporates several evidence-based treatment approaches, including:

  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)

  • Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

  • Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT)

  • Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)

  • Collaborative and Proactive Solutions (CPS)

Treatment is individualized based on each patient's strengths, developmental level, and clinical needs.

Therapeutic Services

Patients participate in a variety of therapeutic interventions throughout their treatment, including:

  • Individual therapy

  • Family therapy

  • Group psychotherapy

  • Recreational therapy

  • Psychoeducational groups

  • Experiential therapies

Treatment plans are developed to address each patient's specific behavioral health needs while supporting emotional, social, and functional development.

Multidisciplinary Treatment Team

Care is provided by a multidisciplinary team that includes board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrists, psychologists, neuropsychologists, licensed counselors, recreational therapists, mental health technicians, and 24-hour nursing staff. The treatment team works collaboratively to develop, monitor, and adjust each patient's plan of care throughout treatment.

Educational Services

Students receiving residential treatment attend Ki Charter Academy, the on-site public charter school serving grades 5 through 12.

Educational services include classroom instruction, academic interventions, career and technical education opportunities, and ongoing collaboration between educational staff and the treatment team. The program is designed to support students' academic progress while they participate in residential treatment.

Patriot Support Program

Meridell Achievement Center also offers the Patriot Support Program for military-connected children and adolescents ages 6–18.

The program provides specialized behavioral health treatment designed to address the unique experiences and stressors associated with military families. Services incorporate trauma-informed care and evidence-based therapeutic approaches to support emotional and behavioral health.

Psychological Testing

Meridell provides psychological and neuropsychological evaluations to assist with diagnostic clarification and treatment planning. Testing may include assessments of intellectual functioning, academic achievement, attention, executive functioning, autism spectrum disorder, personality, trauma-related symptoms, and other areas relevant to each patient's clinical presentation.

Results are incorporated into the individual's treatment plan and may also provide families with recommendations to support continued care following discharge.

A Comprehensive Treatment Approach

Meridell Achievement Center integrates psychiatric care, residential treatment, therapeutic services, educational programming, and psychological testing within a single treatment setting. By combining these services, the facility aims to address the behavioral, emotional, cognitive, and academic needs of children and adolescents requiring residential behavioral health treatment.
