Harmony Health Fort Worth: Treatment & Services
Harmony Health Fort Worth: Treatment & Services
Harmony Health Fort Worth provides behavioral health services for adults and older adults who may require inpatient psychiatric stabilization, intensive outpatient treatment, or continued outpatient support. Its treatment model incorporates psychiatric care, therapy, daily living skills, recreational activities, family involvement, and discharge planning as part of an individualized plan of care.
Plan of Care Overview
A typical inpatient stay at Harmony Health Fort Worth is approximately 14–21 days, although the length of treatment can vary depending on an individual’s clinical needs and progress.
During a patient’s stay, an interdisciplinary care team works with the patient and, when appropriate, their family to identify treatment goals, address current concerns, and develop a plan for continued care following discharge.
Treatment may include a combination of:
Individual therapy
Family therapy
Group therapy
Recreation therapy
Daily living skills groups
Psychiatric and medical care
Medication management
Discharge planning
Other adjunctive therapies based on individual needs
Daily living skills groups may address areas such as memory, mood regulation, relaxation, and other skills related to functioning and independence.
A Goal-Oriented Approach
Goal setting is incorporated into the daily treatment routine. Each morning, patients participate in a brief goal-setting group and identify one or more tasks they would like to work toward that day. Patients are encouraged to share their goals with staff and peers as they are able, and staff members provide support throughout the day.
Goals may be simple and individualized. For example, a patient may set a goal of participating in a group activity, engaging in a recreational activity, or interacting with another patient.
At the end of the day, patients have an opportunity to reflect on their progress and consider whether they met their goals.
Daily goal setting is guided by two questions:
What am I doing today?
What can I do to make it better?
Harmony Health also incorporates approaches such as re-motivation, reminiscence, and validation within its therapeutic programming. These approaches can be used to encourage engagement, address past experiences, and support patients in identifying meaningful activities and goals.
Personalized Therapy Programs
Treatment services are individualized according to each patient’s needs and treatment plan.
Individual Therapy
Individual therapy provides patients with an opportunity to discuss their treatment, address current concerns, work toward identified goals, and prepare for discharge. Sessions may also focus on developing problem-solving skills and strategies that patients can use after leaving the hospital.
Family Therapy
Family involvement may be incorporated into treatment when appropriate and with the patient’s written consent. Family members can provide information about a patient’s history, experiences, and support system that may be relevant to treatment.
Family therapy may address treatment goals, changes observed during the patient’s care, communication, and planning for discharge and continued support.
Recreation Therapy
Recreation therapy is led by a Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS) and uses structured leisure activities as part of the treatment process.
Activities may provide opportunities for patients to practice social interaction, self-expression, engagement, and the use of leisure time in meaningful ways. Recreation therapy is designed around individual treatment goals and may support skills related to independence and social connection.
Group Therapy
Group therapy provides patients with opportunities to participate in structured therapeutic activities alongside peers. Groups may allow participants to discuss shared experiences, develop coping skills, practice communication, and learn from one another.
Participation is encouraged but remains voluntary, allowing patients to make decisions about their participation in accordance with their treatment needs and comfort level.
Programs & Levels of Care
Inpatient Program
Harmony Health’s inpatient program provides 24/7 psychiatric and medical support for adults ages 55 and older who require a higher level of care and stabilization.
The inpatient setting provides structured supervision and access to psychiatric and medical professionals. Treatment may include evaluation, medication management, individual and group therapy, and other services identified as appropriate for the patient.
The program also incorporates discharge planning to help patients and their families prepare for continued care after hospitalization.
Intensive Outpatient Program
The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) provides structured treatment for adults and older adults who do not require 24-hour hospitalization but may benefit from a higher level of support than traditional outpatient therapy.
Patients participate in scheduled therapeutic services while continuing to live in the community. Treatment may include group and individual therapy and can address areas such as coping strategies, symptom management, relapse prevention, and adjustment to daily life.
Interdisciplinary Care Team
Harmony Health uses an interdisciplinary approach to patient care. Depending on the patient’s needs, the care team may include:
Psychiatrists
Nurse practitioners
Physicians
Nurses
Social workers
Psychologists
Dietitians
Activity therapists
Clinical pharmacists
Discharge planners
Mental health technicians
Each discipline contributes to different aspects of a patient’s care, allowing treatment planning to address psychiatric, medical, functional, nutritional, social, and discharge-related needs.
Continuum of Care
A continuum of care refers to the different levels of behavioral health services that may be available as a patient’s treatment needs change. At Harmony Health Fort Worth, care may progress from inpatient stabilization to intensive outpatient treatment and, when appropriate, ongoing outpatient services and community resources.
1. Inpatient Stabilization
Inpatient treatment provides 24/7 supervised care for patients who require stabilization in a hospital setting.
During this stage, patients may receive psychiatric evaluation, medication management, structured therapy, and other services based on their individual treatment plan. The care team monitors the patient’s progress and begins planning for the next stage of treatment as appropriate.
2. Intensive Outpatient Treatment
After inpatient stabilization, some patients may transition to an Intensive Outpatient Program. IOP allows patients to receive structured behavioral health treatment while living at home and maintaining greater involvement in their daily routines.
Services may include individual and group therapy, with treatment focused on maintaining progress, developing coping strategies, addressing symptoms, and supporting the transition back into the community.
3. Outpatient Therapy & Community Resources
Following higher levels of care, patients may continue treatment through outpatient providers and community-based resources. Depending on individual needs, these resources may include ongoing counseling, psychiatric services, support groups, wellness programs, and other community services.
Coordination between the patient, family, treatment providers, and referring professionals can help support continuity as care transitions from the hospital to the community.
Understanding the Role of Each Level of Care
Behavioral health treatment can involve multiple levels of care depending on an individual’s symptoms, safety needs, functioning, and clinical recommendations. Inpatient treatment provides a higher level of supervision and stabilization, while intensive outpatient and outpatient services allow individuals to receive continued support while living in the community.
Understanding the differences between these levels of care can help patients, families, and referring professionals have more informed conversations about available treatment options and appropriate next steps.
